Burns Bust

According to the newspaper The Scotsman, Burnsong, a project funded by the Scottish Executive and Scottish Arts Council was launched on 25 January 2005.(the anniversary of Burns' birthday). Its mission was to encourage songwriters to compose new material in the spirit of the Bard.

"...Songwriters were encouraged to write a new song - music and lyrics - in any style that reflects Burns's concerns, to compose new music for a Burns lyric, or to write new words to a traditional tune." "... songwriters whose work is selected by the panel will have the chance to develop their song with expert help.

A performance of the winning songs was scheduled to take place on St. Andrews Day in Scotland in November 2005. For more information please visit:
