O, my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June.
O, my Luve's like a melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair as thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
(melody begins again here)
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
Oh I will love thee till, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run:
And fare thee well, my only luve!
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it ware ten thousand mile.
Thie lyrics are from a love poem by Robert Burns. Sheet music is forthcoming within the next few days along with a MIDI file. The current clip features the melody arranged for and played on the bass.
This is a quick rehearsal pass that was made so that I could remember what I'd come up with that night. It's not well rehearsed and despite a few glitches in performance, it really captured the melody nicely. It was made using the mpg feature on a digital camera. Since the clip wouldn't convert smootlhy to an MP3 the video portion (which isn't much to look at) is still attached. Unfortunately I won't post the note for note transcription for the solo bass version just yet but if you are a bass player and would like to perform it on a recording please note that the arrangement is copywritten (©2003) and is also slated to be featured in a book in the near future. I will, however, do a Finale file then generate a .gif version with just the basic melody transcribed for fiddle and mandolin as well as the guitar chords (again that will be up in the next few days)... and maybe I'll include a just the stripped down melody for bass as well. ;)
So, unless you're on a broad band connection the clip is still loading. It's just under 1mb and embedded so, depending on connection speed it will probably take anywhere between 5-20 minutes to finish....Keep checking back...
You'll need the Quicktime plug in if the above clip doesn't work....
